Get Windows 8.1 Back on Dell 8 Pro 5830

Spiceworks Community,
Not going to bore the community with the details right now. Where can I find a Dell OEM Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit ISO or DVD to (re)image a Dell Venue 8 Pro 5830. Windows 10 is not an option until Q3 of 2017.

However we have VLK so we would re-image using our own licenses anyway - which you are also free to do, and if you want pro or enterprise and the tablets don't come with it, that is also another option.
You can capture an image of these just like any other device, you will need a dock or USB to Ethernet adapter to do so though.
Given that the free Windows 10 ends soon, why not leave that one as 10 so it's ready for testing when the time comes.

2. Download Windows from the Microsoft creation tool and install the drivers direct from Dell

1. While testing to see if Win10 can be installed on this tablet, I told the Win10 installer to delete ALL user info. It must have taken my choice to include the deletion the recovery partition. That was my mistake. Luckily these devices are under warranty. A call to Dell and and a explanation has resulted in Dell wanting me to ship the devices in question for a full factory restore.
2. The Microsoft Creation tool only works with a Microsoft Retail tag. These tablets have the (for a lack of a better term) "Product Key built into the BIOS". Thus the need for a Dell OEM Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit ISO or DVD. We have TONS of Dell OEM Win8.1 Pro 64-bit versions, but the BIOS is a 32-bit UEFI.
I hope this makes sense Rod-IT. Thanks for your input.

Can you use this?

Again, if you delete the recovery partition, the Win10 30-day rollback option is off the table. Here me out -- I am needing this ISO as a fail-safe option. My hope is that the firm I am currently contracted to will have the app that is needed for these tablets ready for Win10 sooner than later. Moreover, since these tablets were purchased without the IT department's consent, it makes it REALLY HARD to provide the level of customer service needed to support these tablets.

Hey Rod -- would it be in my best interest to just be thankful that Dell is going to factory reload the tablets to Win8.1 Pro x86, create documentation for the rest of the staff on how to move the tablets to Win10 when the app is ready for prime time? I will have to note that when these tablets come out of warranty in addition to the absence of an image on the imaging server, there is no way to move the tablets from Win10 back to Win8.1 without the Dell OEM disc or the purchase of licenses from Microsoft? Would love to hear your thoughts. I feel bad for shooting down every workaround you have suggested.

An upgrade does not remove the recovery partition, but a clean install will, if you say it's gone it's gone, you'll need to get in touch with Dell.

However we have VLK so we would re-image using our own licenses anyway - which you are also free to do, and if you want pro or enterprise and the tablets don't come with it, that is also another option.

Problem is this, our plants "need" the tablets with this mission-critical app. Since I am only a contractor, all I can (and will do) is report and let the firm decide. I will have our Desktop Imaging Analyst know the findings and move on.
I tried "phising for a tech" (trust me, not proud that I used this technique) but 3 Dell support techs held firm that Dell cannot ship me the media needed to resolve my issue. Kind of a let down. My hunch is that Microsoft is cracking down HARD on all OEM regarding older OSes. Microsoft wants to ensure that Windows 10 is the de-facto OS from this point forward.

IWR Consultancy is an IT service provider.
Surprising, we usually get Dell DVD media with computers. Last batch was couple of months ago but they even had Windows 7 DVDs with them. (We had specified 7)
The other option is to find someone who has a Dell OEM 8.1 DVD. They are all much the same, the only thing that matters for activation is that it has a Dell certificate. Drivers, you can install separately.

I agree Ian! I am not sure if Dell ships out media for their tablets. At this point, I just need to thank Dell for wanting to restore these tablets to factory image. As Rod stated, I need to have our imaging tech create an image for these tablets. Should any of the tablets fail before the warranty expires, the firm is covered. Should they fail after the warranty expires and before Q3 of 2017, then the firm better hope the in-house developer has a beta version of the app ready to deploy in Win10.
